P4P 2009 was the brainchild of Patrick's friend Mike Dennis, and was a very successful event held in Patrick's memory last year. It was a family day out, held on August Bank Holiday Monday, at Horton Country Park in Epsom, Surrey and involved a small entrance fee, for which we all received a P4P wristband.
The day started with a sponsored 5km fun run in optional fancy dress (including some brilliant costumes!) This was followed by an afternoon of relaxing in the sunshine with a picnic, or cooking food on the barbeque. There was a rounders tournament, egg and spoon races and sack races organised by Patrick’s friends dressed as superheroes! Each activity cost a mere 20p to take part. There was also face painting, courtesy of Maggie Chipperfield!!!
In the evening we all moved into the hall, and Patrick’s cousin’s band ‘Take cover’ played, which rounded off the evening perfectly.
There was a great turnout, and the weather was beautiful. Everyone had a fantastic day and in total over £4,000 was raised. Mike Dennis then managed to persuade his employers ‘Marshall Wace’ to kindly double the amount raised.
