John O'Groats to Lands End

In July 2009, Peter Tootill, the Father of one of Patrick’s school friends, along with two friends, cycled from John O’Groats to Lands End to raise money in Patrick’s Memory. It took them 12 days to complete the 970 mile trip, covering about 80 miles a day. In the run up to their epic journey they were training three times a week. They managed the 12 days without one puncture!

Peter summarised the trip as “12 days, 3 cyclists, 1003 miles, 0 punctures, 1 bout of food poisoning, 1 lost rear reflector, 1 replaced bike rack, great B&Bs, the odd downpour, several days of headwind, mostly great weather, breath-taking scenery and lots of interesting people along the way!”

Between them, the three raised approximately £3,500 in Patrick’s Memory, so all in all quite some achievement!
